Have a fantastic day!

although lost islands definitely isnt dead by any means, it is currently one of our less popular servers unfortunately (from what i know, may be different in other timezones) i believe lifting the english only chat will help encourage other players to invite their friends and feel comfortable socialising in main chat with others of different cultures.

If two foreign people wanna have foreign talk, go for it.

Quote from: sparkydeathcap on Feb 17, 2016, 04:07 AMand also; how old are you? I've always imagined you as like a old irish man that drinks whiskey and screams at people to get off his lawn while sitting on a bench in the park. But I'm pretty sure that's not the case because if it was: 1. you're a pedophile and 2. you're a pedophile

I guess this could work, however, those foreign players could be insulting others with their language in global chat, and those who do not understand the language would be unaware of this. Also, if you do not speak that language, having a bunch of words and symbols that are foreign to you could give the illusion of spam.

I do believe everyone should feel comfortable with their language, though. As well as that, this 'English only in chat' rule seems to separate English speakers from non-English speakers. But removing this rule may not be able to bond these two together.

I'm unsure what to vote for at the moment.

A) Why would you care if you're getting insulted in japanise, when you don't understand it anyways?
B) Spam is usually repeating the same text over and over and over. Even if it were symbols we can't work with, a majority of people can see a pattern repeating itself ;)

Okay, on to my opinion. In all honesty, I think we should allow this. I mean, sure it can be difficult to see if someone is breaking the rules or not, but we do have staff who understand german. (For example A majority of the forgein players on lost are german from what I have seen anyways.)
In regards to timezones, that just basically seperates them a lot aswell. The european players wouldn't be on at like 11 PM during the week, when our americans, etc. come on, meaning that keeping an eye on two different languages won't be difficult either.
I am open to salt, opinions and what not :)

A- You are true here, however, and I didn't make these rules so I don't know if they only apply to English but: 'Do not insult fellow players or staff members'. I wouldn't mind if someone insulted me whether I understood it or not though, but some people might.

B- Again, quite right that spam is repeating the same text, but if you don't understand it, and someone is having a conversation in Dutch, it might be slightly confusing, and filling chat with something not understood by some people...? [I'm not entirely sure about point B]

But if on Lost Islands there is a noticeable number of people who are German, then I see this rule slightly odd. If English is allowed in Global because many people speak it, then what about German, what about the others?

, would be brilliant.

I'll go for yes now.

I am curious to see what the nos were thinking. If staffing needs to be done, google translate works p good with talking with people that are speaking different languages. Also, we have staff that speak multiple languages. On staff we have people that speak German, English, and Spanish (maybe more).
Have a fantastic day!

I say yes to this. I'd rather a rich player base with many different languages. Besides I'm one of the staff that is bilingual(semi quadlingual)
To Hyrule Field, I g-Oh wait...Is that a lynel? NO THANKS!

It would probably not be a bad idea if English in the main chat would be just a recommendation since most of the people on the server either know English or know a language known by so few minecraft players that they would likely have a translator open anyway. This way, if someone needs help, that person may use English to ask for help instead of continually repeating their message over and over again in their language if no one else has open something along the lines of google translate or reverso.
You must accept the fundamental truth of reality, Lost = Life!!

Mentioning that english is the preferred lang would p be good, I agree.

Right now it is 21:9 in favor of removing it. I would prefer to hear some of the points of the 9 opposed so we could tweak/modify the proposal if need be.

If people were allowed to do alll lanaguags in main chat they would be able to not having to put more effort in by doing /msg or /tell so I voted yes.

blalp
