Congratulations on your achievement Happysheep! The server has definitely changed over the years and isn't what we knew it as in 2013, but it has remained a part of many of our pasts and presents.

Glad you stick around! Our new world is custom generated, would love to see you piddle around for an hour or so.

Congratulations finb! That is a huge milestone! On average, you played 200 hours a year or roughly 33 minutes every day!

Hey xJade__!

I went in-game to add those people to your protections, but I did not find any protections that you own, only ones you are a member on. Do you own any protections in game that I am missing?

I was alerted you changed your name (Howdy jimjam, been a long time since I've seen you!). You only had 1 protection in-game, and it was under your old name. I went ahead and updated it to your new name, and made sure the same players were on it. I also added StarGem as a member to your protection.

Hope you get a solution soon!

Quote from: UntrustedAlly on Nov 13, 2022, 02:59 PMCrazy to see so many old names from my childhood.

I joined in March 2013 and spent most of my time on the Tekkit 1.2.5 server before switching to the main server after it was closed. It brings joy to my heart to see the community is still alive, and that so many people from years ago are still around and active here. I just came back today hoping to see some old friends on the server.

Thank you Towlie and everyone else for everything you've done.

I hope life has treated you all well over the last 10 years and I hope to see you all on the server sometime.

Great to hear from you Untrusted! Hope all is well with you!

Quote from: Shnarf on Aug 12, 2022, 05:25 AMI along with Sparkle_Sun (my sister) joined back in 2013. I was originally named Gold_Cube and this is a newer forum account due to me forgetting my old login info under Gold_Cube, but from time to time we both still discuss or pop into SFT. It's crazy to think about how I was 11 and Sparkle was 14 when we first started playing on the survival server. Time really does fly by... One of these days before college starts back up I will have to pop onto SFT. I need to probably buy MC again due to no longer having my original Mojang account email which is required in order to migrate the account to Microsoft.

Schnaaaaaaaaarf, great to see you!

Quote from: Qwerty102964 on Aug 01, 2022, 07:05 PMOh man I picked a great time to check in. Passed my 10 year mark this March. So many good memories from this place. Also, I was the person whose wedding party curiousartist referred to in his post, lol. Made some lifelong friends from this community for sure.

And I can't believe I recognize every name who has responded so far. Seeing lots of us grown up, married, with kids, etc is great.

Qwerty! Great to see you around again. I know we didn't make a big connection while we played but you're a big name I remember, so glad to hear from you once again.

Hope everyone jumps on soon and sees the new /w2 uploaded :D

Quote from: RemninBwah on Jul 12, 2022, 05:30 PMNot from specifically 2012, but I am from early 2013! Used to go by Amber_Kat, go by RemninBwah now

Amber_Kat! It's been so long! Great to see you again.

I joined in 2013 so almost to that 10 year mark. Two whole different worlds for sure, especially when I think about how long I spent as staff. My join date was 6-11-2013, and I just got married on 6-11-22. Two different worlds for sure. Love staying around though, some of the plug-ins are just fun to use for a while and catching up with those old-timers from time to time is great too.

Removed my previous post as I answered my own questions. Here's a couple of my thoughts after playing for a while.

Are you planning on maintaining and updating this server? If so, here's what I think could make it more challenging (because honestly, it's still kinda easy since we can continually respawn after death).

:goldenapple: Make it impossible to craft armor. Only way to get armor is to get it from mobs/chests/nether/end/etc...
:goldenapple: Make it impossible to craft golden apples.
:goldenapple: Maybe make it impossible to enchant or brew? Not decided on this one yet, mainly because I haven't made it that far.

:apple: You can add a couple of commands, mainly /who. Not sure if /pstats works either.

I like the scoreboard on the righthand side on deaths. Maybe we could do something more with that in the future? Like switch it out to count different things, like person who has lived the longest since last death? Most times killed by certain mob? etc...

Quote from: SavageCoopDoge on Apr 20, 2021, 02:50 PMsomething like slimefun to where they have to grind for 20 years, but more items and cooler stuff

Or something like quests, like what they have in WynCraft

I may be mistaken, but didn't we have something similar to quests at one point? A wildwest server, or was it a part of B-team/Pixelmon?

I personally just came back to playing (because I was isolated from testing positive for COVID and was SO BORED) and am enjoying my time. Here is why I took a three year break.

:apple: I was burnt out from being staff by the time I quit playing. A couple of things happened while being staff that rubbed me the wrong way, and that did not aid to helping me stay around. Once I was done being staff, I lost my passion for playing on SFT as I had been staff for 2 straight years.
:apple: I went into my last year of high school and first two years of college which was a busy, stressful time that I didn't have the time or energy to log into SFT.
:apple: Not having the time or energy to log into SFT meant most of my builds got BCV'd if I did log in for a couple days, so all of my progress was continually reset which made me not want to log in either.
:apple: Most of my friends who played had also stopped playing because of a lot of drama that was going on, and it made things divisive and uncool to be around.

However, like I said, I have now started playing again (racking up 35 hours last week alone, thanks COVID). Here's why I'm sticking around.
:goldenapple: I really enjoy some of the end-game plugins we offer, like pyrofishing and slimefun, and while I did not get into them before I left or the few times I stuck around for a week, I am challenging myself to do so because I have now come to appreciate just how immersive and technical they can be. I also aspire to get into the top 10 of Reaction, a great plugin, thanks djkirsh.
:goldenapple: The BCV rules have changed so now I don't feel as pressured to continually log in and be active. I also do not have a staff rank/the uptime requirements for Elder/Specialist have changed, and I do not feel pressured to log in/fill a weekly uptime requirement.
:goldenapple: Some of my old-time buddies don't play, but familiar faces are still around and I have enjoyed catching up and seeing them be consistently present (winston_b, omelott, MasterX70, Darren64_NY, Britney1177 to name a few).

One thing that I would like to praise you Towelie, Fear, Dpa, Saywhat, and all the staff teams between 2018-Now is how you have changed your perspective and approach to SFT. I was around when people would FIGHT to get a spot on the survival server; that's how many players would be logged in at once. You needed to show up an hour before a weekend event to even have a chance at playing. But SFT is not that big anymore, and for a while the general attitude was to pretend like we could get back there with a little push and new ideas, but we couldn't because vanilla MC isn't that big anymore. Now, our world sizes are smaller, our BCV rules are longer, and we generally care more about retention then size again. Good job higher-ups, a much needed attitude shift.

Survival / [Survival] Commenting on Unbans
Nov 23, 2017, 07:07 AM
Within the last month an onslaught of comments on unbans that aren't the person's that is commenting has happened. (Warlock_ben being the best example).

This is just a reminder that if you comment on an unban that is not yours, and you were not asked to comment, you will be forum warned. This will be strictly enforced starting now. This could result in loss of rank for Legends if it is excessive and repeated. Just use common sense.

If you absolutely must say something, either ask the staff member in charge of it or the Manager+ team before posting or be at peace with the warning you will receive.

1. Can we move more than 1 build bc that would be awesome.

2.How lond do we have to move everything?

Questions like this to be answered later today. A build move post is coming in 2 or 3 hours

Here's a few words that I would say should be extremely thought about before using:

Actually don't think just don't say these words:
  • The derogatory term for a person of dark skin color that start with the letter "n"
  • The derogatory term for a person who prefers to spend their affection on members of the same sex, particularly male, that starts with the letter "f"
  • The term used to most often mock the intelligence level of a person who has 0 control over such level that starts with the letter "r"

Highly debatable to be used, would need to be clarified further if allowed:
  • The word with the direct definition of "a person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child" that starts with the letter "b"
  • The word with the direct definition of "a contemptuous term used to refer to a women" that starts with the letter "c"

Thank you dictionary.com for the definitions under the "highly debatable" column.

Quote from: Protecter3 on Jul 31, 2017, 04:52 PMCan we use redstone lamps or togglable lights to harvest crops, and are simple iron farms allowed?
Also, are semi-automatic smooth/cobble stone farms using pistons to move the stone to allow more stone to form allowed?

You have to hit the switch on the light. Iron farms are a no go, won't work anyway with farm limiter, and no on the cobble/stone farms.

Quote from: Dartz on Jul 28, 2017, 03:03 AMSo For the automated farms. I have a cactus farm that uses no redstone. I have fences that break the cactus and i have water that pushes the cactus towards hoppers. Is that illegal?

No, that is illegal. It allows for the harvest of items without the player doing any interaction. Also, it lags the area if it is of a bigger size.
