Quote from: Happysheep102 on Jan 02, 2020, 03:06 PMI can't actually suggest anything (helpful ik). But this is my view of survival.

You have a huge amount of new players joining the server daily. Your problem is not getting new players, its keeping them. New players join, build for a few hours and get bored. I myself and many long term players also feel the same. I'll give an example. I've spent the last few months building a huge auto shop and village. It kept me occupied and playing lots for ages. However now it is finished, I have nothing to do, nothing really that I want to build. Survival (as a concept) gets boring very quickly.

Survival has a purpose, you build, you survive, if I was you, leave it be. Have a different minecraft server to bring player interest such as Pixelmon, Prison, Factions.

Back when I used to play a lot more, it was a joy to rotate between the different SFT minecraft servers as they were all so different and kept players interested. I divided my time up between them all.

Don't break survival, its the lack of options that's the problem.

Happy has summed it up well; but I think his conclusions can be added to. From where I'm standing, survival is boring people for two reasons; lack of mods (and I acknowledge that adding more mods moves away from the vanilla survival element) and a lack of difficulty - it has become too difficult for players that are actually established to die and have any regression whilst it is still too difficult for those new players to become stable to a point where they wont die and make any real progression.

There needs to be a midpoint that makes it easy enough for new players AND challenging enough for established players to make it challenging - potentially giving new players useful commands like /back (only a suggestion) to allow them to prevent regression, whilst also increasing the difficulty via increased mob difficulty and potentially stripping back on some mods, like pyromon for example (I don't really see many people use this) in favour of a supermob mod? and potentially the disease mod? or things to that effect. The one other suggestion of this type I have and its gonna get struck down and probably rightly so would be something like turning on creeper damage, so players have to play with some level of attentiveness

The other way to view it and this is quite a depressing way to look at it is that survival is just not what it used to be, and as Minecraft as a game moves on, survival is one of the server types that will be left behind.

I agree with Jim that anyone who plays that often deserves something of value but by providing god you would truly ruin all survival element, at that point they may as well just play creative
Then why not just give them something of equal power like an item or being able to heal themselves (with a cooldown). I think philanthropist old had the perms but not 100% sure.

That sounds like a fair tool to have for their commitment to the server in my opinion

What is your IGN (in-game nickname)?: T4Tom2
What is your uptime in the last week (/pstats)?: 34h
What is your overall uptime(/pstats)?: (Survival and total) 1163h (as of 12/06/19)
Were you banned from our server in the last 6 months?: No
Were you ever banned for xraying / advertising / exploiting glitches?: Nope
What rank do you wish to be (EventHost / JMod)?: JMod
Why do you want that rank?: Ive been away from MC for a while and I've come back older and more mature, and I feel like i'd like a new challenge, I have only ever felt what the server is like from a players POV, and would like to see it from another perspective.
What region are you from? (EU / US / AU / OTHER): EU or more specifically UK
Do you have a Discord account?: Yes I do, I use it a couple of times a day

IGN: T4Tom2
Survial uptime: 1031h on survival and 1036h total
Can you get 6 hours of uptime on Survival each week? I have 24hr uptime this week you you tell me
Have you been banned before? If yes, why should we overlook this? I was banned back in 2013 for a misunderstanding for which i was unbanned with no conseuqences and I got a ban in mid 2016 when my friend used my account, unbanned with no consequences
Do you have or can you get a Skype? I do indeed have skype yes.
Are you applying to be JMod or EventHost or both? If EventHost, will you be able to host 25 events per week? With 24h uptime in one week, i could almost host an event an hour and still make the 25 events  ;)

Sidenote: im a fun member of the community who enjoys the light hearted side of things :P

:) Thanks Tow!

Chan, I don't understand.

One minute your calling for a reset to change SFT and 'save it'

The next you're saying how much of a good direction SFT is headed?

Quote from: Tombo_ on Mar 14, 2017, 07:49 PMSurvival issues for me consist of too strict staffing. Most definitely a bias opinion but valid nonetheless ;) Host team still needs fixing and a greater variety of events should be hosted.

Probably wasted my time typing as most of these kinds of posts I find result in very little. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agree with this point of view but I would like to add that I don't even believe all staff members know the rules of the server, it took me 15 minutes to convince a JMod, a Mod and a specialist (although the specialist did admit to very rarely being active) that there had been a rule change in place for OVER 2 MONTHS and yet they still hadn't been informed/realised. Only my opinion but id be absolutley shocked if i found out that members of the staff team didnt know the server rules which they claim to enforce.
I'd love to have actionable info but let's look at this post. You told me a that staff are strict and that they don't know rules but did not provide any sort of identifiable information I can act on such as the name of the staff members not knowing the rules or why you think the staff is strict

I thought naming and shaming staff members on a public post seemed a bit harsh to me. I agree let's not generalise but don't target specific people. If you PM me Tow I can go into more detail

Quote from: MrChanango on Mar 13, 2017, 11:05 PM- I know the server kind've went over this and wasn't really in favor for it. BUT, Personally I would be all for a Full reset. Obviously I know this would cause havoc for some of the richer players, but it would refrain from all of this "super-op-non-survival-survival server" stuff.

World war 3 engage! A full reset would just drop the player count even more, i'm not sure it'd do anything for SFT at this point except make the survival server a ghost town. And even if it didn't, players would have good tools in days and make tons of money pretty quickly.

A full server reset would have no positive effects upon the server. The problem isn't that new players feel disadvantaged because of the wealth of other players, but retaining players is the problem. If 10-20% of new players that actually joined the server stayed as consistent players the player base would shoot up to a reasonable size, and I believe that the most effective way to do this would be to have staff working to give new players tips, tricks and help with things such as rules, commands etc or just refer them to /warp guide (however this desperatley needs updating).

If the staff spent less time enforcing not needless but less harmful rules such as placing offensive signs in their own homes where very few if any other people will see it (obviously dont exclude every sign containing a profanity, use common sense, but if you can swear in global chat, why not on a sign in your own home?
P.S just an example, if staff shifted their general focus to helping new players, im sure some of the older players too will realise that the need to get them to stay is just a little bit more important than ours.

Personally a server reset would ruin the game for me. Im sure many other players have built up a reasonable wealth and set of housing and resetting the game would remove any reason for me to stay around.
