now this is all going to be about factions

People said they were disappointed the first 'map' back in May 2020 ended so early. Personally I would agree, we should have a poll/announcement about how long we would want resets to last ahead of time, but we shouldn't set it in stone either because having a firm end date only demotivates people to play.

I think the reset should be 3-4+ months long as having it last only weeks leads to people being burned out towards the end. There should be enough time to make a faction, be competitive, get destroyed, be pissed off for a couple weeks and then come back to get your revenge and get the floor wiped with you again.

I don't think 15 man factions are really with the times, 10 players is a more reasonable number. 8 was low last time but im glad to have a debate.

-Events would be an awesome way to add PvP and encourage people NOT to sit at 20/20 Power at all times. One idea we've talked about is Glowstone Mountain (All-You-Can-Mine Glowstone, PvP For control over ~30 minutes) although I think the plugin is private, meaning we can't use it. some kind of event would be cool

-You could add a small area in spawn (or a warp) where The faction on top of /f top gets to build a shrine, resetting weekly or on 2-3 different days.

-Prot 5 Armor should be decided by a poll. We would also need an agreed-upon method of distribution for p5, i.e. will it be in the shop, will you get it for winning an event, will there be a limited number available, etc. Maybe 3 sets of p5 in the world?

-Have a functioning economy instead of the banana republic Evan thinks he can get away with apparently. Going to need sections for brewing, ores, food/farming, mob drops?, blocks,


-Give new joining players a short grace period (hours or a day) where they cannot be killed in pvp as long as they dont engage in pvp themselves. This would allow new players to not get destroyed instantly by someone named Emma



-Remove TNT 100% droprate on spawners- lower to 80% so that People cant skirt the FEE when they want to pick one up; fee should be increased as well

-Make sure spawners still DON'T stack

-Add fantasy plugins. ELITEMOBS was cool. Headshot sounds could be cool, fully customizable bow-headshot messages, damage, effects, armor reduction, etc.

(Genuine question, do you think we can have it back If it only allowed potions, food, etc? and was 1 page of Market Mail?) 
Using /Market Send to give potions to teammates before TPing/Warping/Raiding was a GAME CHANGER, and made PvPing flow better, allowed you to be more creative because no need to return to base, and it was more rewarding if you're able to stay in the world for a long time without warping out. Obviously it was broken to store all your items, BUT, if there is a config to allow a limited number of items and disallow armor/books/rare items in general, then I believe 100% we should re-implement it.

I want to personally apologize for contributing to the overall state of Factions in the past, -2016, when I was more than a little responsible for bullying BadBrad into a total state of mental and moral depression which he never fully recovered from, resulting in his current need to be an edgy piece of shit today.

today we're going to be going over the SFT Factions patch notes rundown! for version 13. So lets get started:

(this is a brainstorm, about what changes would help the community.)


Dynamap- NERFED

increase update delay to 1 hour, reduce to 15 mins after two week grace period.


Reset length- BUFFED

Resets should go back to the old way they were, every few months. Makes it more popular with casuals. I am even in favor of returning to the original factions season 1 map that was wiped months ago, if such a thing is possible, as it seemed to really hurt a lot of players. At least, the reset length should be publicized at the start of the season, to make it fair to everybody


MCMMO XP- NERFED

Leveling in the previous iteration was too easy, people got max axes (750) in a matter of days instead of weeks or months. The level cap should be doubled and exp gain reduced to 25% of what it was


New Player Engagement- BUFFED

This was too low all around, the majority of players were vets or returning players, and casuals were at an alltime low. Yes, maybe we scared them off, but as with the minimap update change and the longer reset duration, I think it will be more appealing to them.

ALSO: Golden Armor Boss Zombies/Skeletons should make a return. When I was a newbie, Killing my first gold armor skele was a treat; I got diamonds (noob me didnt have any) and some good gold armor... good enough to make my first base with. Then I got raided and quit, as most noobs do, but the gold armor mobs made me want to come back, to try to kill em good, unfortunately that plugin didnt make it to the 1.8 release, so it was never to return. I hope it works for 1.8 now, all these years later. This would alone increase the playerbase a tiny amount, as well as raise the skill ceiling for vets (I know people raged when they got killed by a boss zombie)

The Factions server has decreased in size to the point where there are only 5 factions that still plays. So these are some suggestions I have to make the server have a longer run.

1) Remove The dynmap or at least remove players and claims. This will make players have to go find a base and determine how to raid it there. Also, there might be more pvp during a raid since people won't know that an enemy faction is coming to raid them because I don't think there have been any big raids where there were people online trying to defend.

2) Reset and decrease map size. Decreasing the map size to work with the removal of the dynmap will work together to make pvp more common without a map. Resetting a map is self explanatory.

3) Make faction sizes smaller. Since there are only 5 main factions that played the past few days, making the faction size 8-10 players will make more factions and more bases to go for.

4) Monthly map resets. With this suggestion I'd say maybe amplifying the world in some resets.

EDIT: Maybe add a bounty plugin and a high enough bounty could put someone on the map or give coords of that person. Thought it was a cool idea.

Just suggestions, but where the server is at now no one is really going to want to play on it.
