A great mod for becoming more powerful, secure, efficient, and fearful-TC allows another route of exploration and time spent at the workbench building up that blood-enchanted shuriken.
Minefactory Reloaded: There are a lot of tech mods out there that excel at adding new ways to be efficient and get your tech on. But, MCR is short and sweet to the point: With MCR you can automate your smelting operations, your farm, and even your mining! Plus, it adds unique and sophisticated efficient logic to redstone which can now crawl up walls and be wired to go multiple places through one-block channels. Plus, it adds cool and useful items like the safari-gun which can be used to capture mobs, the omniscient spyglass, or the awesome-sounding needlegun, SPAMR launcher and potato cannon.
Thermal Dynamics: TD adds one large, notable benefit: item and fluid transport. You can move items and liquids through different pipes to anywhere you want, and it uses the same power as MCR.
Project Red?: PR is the successor to the popular RedPower, which adds a ton of new redstone capabilties, likewise to MCR. Actually, MCR incorporated RP's additions after RP ended development. Alas, PR allows for even more! redstone and advanced logic within just one block. Redstonephiles will love this mod. It also has its own itemducts, potentially eliminating the needs for TD. It's just if whether or not this is a more needed or worthy addition, or needed in conjunction.
Applied Energistics?: A great time-consuming mod, AE allows you to create deep storage systems that in conjunction with mods like MCR and TD allow for a nice and orderly system where you can request any item you possess within your system at any access point-even remotely if you get that capability. I don't know if this is justified for such a light modpack, though.
If you have any other great tech suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Thanks for the reply, if they were considering it at all
np, and i especially liked the first three. the tech mods are just a bonus, depending on what the playerbase wants if they even think about making it, like you said

Quote from: jasper_Fritz on Dec 19, 2021, 03:03 AMI know last time vanilla just had to wipe and everyone lost interest, but this time we should restart it since we're on 1.18.

I'm also curious if anyone has the world download for the version that came out on 1.8.  That version we released it because there werent any plugins ready, but it was a good time and itd be sweet to see pictures at least if no one has the download.

Maybe you could put some of it into event world for a while.  We had some cool builds going on and the place had a lot of character.

Just thoughts. Toodeloo!
Survival just had a reset for 1.18 about a week ago. If you're referring to a full vanilla server, we have hosted one several times and they usually die pretty quickly so I see one being unlikely anywhere in the near future

as long as we're ok with keeping them around and maybe limiting farm size we can have a server up for a while, only problem was when there's interest in a server like that, resetting it is resetting everyones work and it feels a little lame.  People do want to feel connected, though, which is accomplished with nether portals and railways a lot better than with warps (getting from place to place feels like it takes so long.)  Plus, if you limit the speed at which people can travel by removing warps or /random or etc, you can sorta improve the lifespan of the map by making it so areas are conquered by mankind more slowly.
This could work for survival too, just making it more vanilla-ey and then people will want to play vanilla mc like hermitcraft youtubers, making cool community builds and etc
Maybe these are bad ideas.  But any ideas an idea amirite?

:(

what is this bs id have a base 5ever and play 5hrs a week max and have tons of fun
ok maybe 10 hrs but thats pushing it and im not saying that to be nice im just not in my youth anymore.  people wanted to have 15man squads but couldnt bring enough people back b/c a lot  got banned or otherwise lost interest in the community. Game is great but we overdosed just need to chill and have a decent 90 min offline raid timer and let people play for like a 5-7 month wipe

Quote from: omelet on Jul 04, 2021, 06:38 PMNone. Stop wasting your time and money on other servers that are going to die within two weeks and focus on improving survival/the servers you already have.
This is a bad mentality, and as Doggggeh said it we own the machines our servers are hosted on, so adding more costs nothing.  Most importantly however, Minecraft is (and unless something crazy happens will continue to be) a sinking ship in popularity and we cannot have long term sustainability if we just give up and don't even try to to get a foothold in other games.  Also I can tell you we heavily focus on current servers and it can only do but so much considering the sort of audience we cater to (there is very small interest in vanilla survival anymore).  Other games and trying new things is the way if we wanna be around for quite a while (we do).

on the same note as my point above there IS interest in vanilla survival but its just the veeeery vanilla type, but /spawn /warp /tpa is out of date. People want to play like hermitcraft, let them. (the youtuber community that builds tons of wack stuff).  Also, piston and lava restrictions are  :'(  :'(  :'(

Also we should have a vanilla server no plugins, friendly/whitelisted (maybe a greif-checking plugin, but vanilla)

Happy birthday to me!!!!!

To think, I was 12 years old when I joined this server 7 years and 2 months ago. 86 months now! There's a Green Day song that goes "there's no return from 86." Idk what it's about I was just looking for a significance to add to that number.

But poggers!!! Wow it's like Christmas morning discovering my 7 year and 2 month and like 4 day anniversary! Holy Genitalia Batman!

Who would have thought I'd be here 7 years after I joined? Too bad the servers gonna be down once all the supporters die from their support of Coronavax. Oh whale. To one last year!!!

Quote from: jasper_Fritz on Jun 22, 2021, 09:11 PMThis is unironically great thank you, but I LOL'd at the 20 chunks limit, you greatly overestimate the players on this factions server.

On the same vein (players not incentivized to tryhard) maybe take a portion of all Donations and have it add up to like 'free parking' and make it a reward for the top faction at the end of the season.  if there were 10 $10 2xmcmmo boosts purchased, end of season pot is $50.  If there were 20 boosts have it be $100, maybe less I.D.K., but this would give lots of people a reason to play, especially if the season is shorter.

Well I haven't played factions on SFT, but when I used to on other networks a few players and I had 8x8 corner bases with 200+ layers of walls etc etc, maybe I overestimate us a bit...  :P
A f-top reward such as 10$ in the SFT store is actually an amazing idea, it would bring more players and we'd be motivated. I don't think an actual cash reward would fit SFT though.
Well, i was sort of thinking of it as a reward to attract new players.  The Irvo types would maybe be interested in joining and that would mean I have some real competition Kappa

Quote from: Palker on Jun 20, 2021, 05:04 PMI personally haven't played factions on SFT, but I've got several thousand hours of faction experience on other networks so I figured I'd give some recommendations for the future seasons. I'll gladly help out with managing factions if needed as well.

Some things that I'd recommend in general is the following:
If anything is unclear, feel free to ask and I'll clarify.  :)

I figured I'd give this a shot:
- Base and Buffer rules such so that you cant have a buffer of anything past 20 chunks
(makes sense if we're adding Gen buckets but SFT has always been more vanilla),
-ally factions should have a gap of maybe 50 or so chunks to prevent large clusters of ally factions that prevent raids possibly a bigger gap if it's a corner base. A max base size, for example, 8x8 chunks or similar.
(wow how did I never think of abusing that),
- Faction merging is always a big no.
- Insiding as well ^
(i like these)
- Raid Detection with alts or streams should be illegal
- Redstone checkboxes is also a big no
(TRUE- If we're removing map. more on that later)
- hiding value shouldn't be allowed
- I recommend having a larger power limit to prevent people from bringing massive amounts of alts to boost their power, because that is 100% going to happen unless such a power limit already exists.
(ours is 40 now, normal is 20, maybe like 60-100 is what you suggest?)
- Adding a head + bounty + mob mask system would be good as well and possibly a "spawner level system", such a system usually balances the progress pretty well.
(SFT has only ever had vanilla spawners before, and had them available from shop.  We were considering adding Creeper and other non-vanilla spawners too if I remember but didn't pull the trigger)
- Set a limit to how many players a faction can have to make the season a bit more competitive and to prevent filling up factions with loads of alts (maybe 10 or so?), but this can be balanced accordingly to how many players we've got active.
(I'm thinking 2-5 player factions might be meta. Playerbase was GOOD at launch last time (30-40 first day?) but got tinier later on like 20 daily active players max)
- If slimefun is enabled for factions, I'd recommend removing it, it just doesnt fit well with factions and might be way too op sometimes, possibly abused too.
(im gonna pretend I didnt read that)
- Grace period at the start of the season(2-3 days period?) and possibly for new players joining mid season too(24 hours period?)
(looks good)
- the elite mobs that was mentioned here earlier seem like it would be an event thing, more info on that below.
- Events such as king of the hill or a event where mob hordes appear near the spawn area (maybe broadcast the cords in chat) which drop rare items/gear would be a good activity to make players have fun
- I'd make p5 the limit, unless this is going to be a semi-op or op factions season, then a p10 limit might be good depending on how "op" you want the economy to be. (I can also help with some economic balancing if needed)
(looks good again to me. SFT = not op)
- /echest or /pv commands?
(we should make these obtainable the same way you could use vote tokens to get /fly on Survival. Have them be real items which are stealable in raids MAYBE?)
- There should be a way to repair items using money, probably at the admin shop / spawn shop
- I'd be careful with custom enchants since it can make things very op depending on the enchants
(I'm thinking like, obtainable only by voting, a full set of p5 armor thorns 3, boots with speed2 on them and chestplate with haste 2, legs with strength 2 and maybe helmet with saturation? This would all be slightly op (never have to re pot up) but should be rare enough and desirable enough to justify it)
- creeper eggs should be enabled, but as a rare item, possibly from kits, voting or events?
(so this is a Scotmid burner account? almost agree tho)
- dont make the headshot sounds that some players wanted too "extreme" if that makes sense, it just doesn't fit into factions that well.
I thought, since our server is full of players who are stinky poopoo at PVP, it would allow them to feel like theyre doing something while sniping with their bow for 15 minutes straight (no this is not a direct attack on Evan)
- I assume there's a /ah but if there isnt one, it's a very good feature that also prevents scamming
- faction leaderboard and a "baltop" / money leaderboard
- I'd say enabling silk touch on spawners is usually a good feature as well, having to blow up your own spawners to move them seems unnecessary.
its about saving that monayy, mining a spawner cost 10k last season and people just blew them up out of principle, even though 10k was only 10 diamonds worth in shop, since TNT had 100% spawner drop rate
- limit the players to the overworld since the playercount isnt that big (I'd assume) so people cant hide on the nether roof or in the end easily for the entire season, but this also depends on how big the maps are.
I think nether roof gold mines are fair and balanced. kappa.
- consider adding gen buckets, chunk busters, trenching tnt
(do it or dont do it, removes time dedication needed but useful for casuals and people without time)
- faction perks such as faction warps, power boosts, buffs within your territory, faction vault. These should either be acquired by doing events or some kind of faction missions
(vote rewards anyone?)
- Daily, weekly and seasonal kits
and vote kits. i have ideas
- /trade command
- ranks with perks/kits?
Ours isnt pay to win, but goes by McMMO levels. (ADD RANKS (voter, supervoter) as a VOTE CRATE reward on max tier for voting)
- a raiding protection period so you cant raid the same faction a 2nd or 3rd time until some time has past, such as a 24 hours, to let them rebuild a bit.
debatable since offline raiding is disabled.
- crop hoppers are very useful.
- longer seasons are
anticipation is killing me
- consider removing dynmap and decreasing the size of the map instead, being able to see players and bases live on a map seems op to me.
hell to the nah.  you can make updating the map occur semi-regularly (30mins,hours,days) and disable players, but that is as liberal as I am willing to go and not one inch further

Quote from: jasper_Fritz on Jun 03, 2021, 01:06 AMBrad yore an oily creamcake

now this is all going to be about factions

People said they were disappointed the first 'map' back in May 2020 ended so early. Personally I would agree, we should have a poll/announcement about how long we would want resets to last ahead of time, but we shouldn't set it in stone either because having a firm end date only demotivates people to play.

I think the reset should be 3-4+ months long as having it last only weeks leads to people being burned out towards the end. There should be enough time to make a faction, be competitive, get destroyed, be pissed off for a couple weeks and then come back to get your revenge and get the floor wiped with you again.

I don't think 15 man factions are really with the times, 10 players is a more reasonable number. 8 was low last time but im glad to have a debate.

-Events would be an awesome way to add PvP and encourage people NOT to sit at 20/20 Power at all times. One idea we've talked about is Glowstone Mountain (All-You-Can-Mine Glowstone, PvP For control over ~30 minutes) although I think the plugin is private, meaning we can't use it. some kind of event would be cool

-You could add a small area in spawn (or a warp) where The faction on top of /f top gets to build a shrine, resetting weekly or on 2-3 different days.

-Prot 5 Armor should be decided by a poll. We would also need an agreed-upon method of distribution for p5, i.e. will it be in the shop, will you get it for winning an event, will there be a limited number available, etc. Maybe 3 sets of p5 in the world?

-Have a functioning economy instead of the banana republic Evan thinks he can get away with apparently. Going to need sections for brewing, ores, food/farming, mob drops?, blocks,

-Give new joining players a short grace period (hours or a day) where they cannot be killed in pvp as long as they dont engage in pvp themselves. This would allow new players to not get destroyed instantly by someone named Emma

-Remove TNT 100% droprate on spawners- lower to 80% so that People cant skirt the FEE when they want to pick one up; fee should be increased as well

-Make sure spawners still DON'T stack

-Add fantasy plugins. ELITEMOBS was cool. Headshot sounds could be cool, fully customizable bow-headshot messages, damage, effects, armor reduction, etc.
    https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/headshotsounds

    Other suggested plugins:
    Health bars: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/bukkit-plugins/health-bar
    Head Drops: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/bukkit-plugins/dropheads
Weeping Angels Mod (Boss Mobs; appeal to geeks like tow?): https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/tardisweepingangels/

-STEVECO REPAIR!!!! I want to be able to permanently repair my god axe with inappropriate symbols on it for free! :) also it used to be a donator option?

    -Bring back /Market mail :)
(Genuine question, do you think we can have it back If it only allowed potions, food, etc? and was 1 page of Market Mail?)
Using /Market Send to give potions to teammates before TPing/Warping/Raiding was a GAME CHANGER, and made PvPing flow better, allowed you to be more creative because no need to return to base, and it was more rewarding if you're able to stay in the world for a long time without warping out. Obviously it was broken to store all your items, BUT, if there is a config to allow a limited number of items and disallow armor/books/rare items in general, then I believe 100% we should re-implement it.

    - SLimfun. Ppl liekd it :)

Please feel free to add more amazing work for evan to do, I mean suggestions!
EVAN:    (big font is me, clearly, in my alpha male tone responding to the sad pitiful excuses levied by the oft unbased, and wrong about the frogs, Evan)

I never responded to this so thank you for the suggestions.

    • I'm open to longer reset cycles, as long as people are still willing to play.  Previously my intention was to let it go until it seemed people had lost interested and then reset/update.
Think of it like finding an abandoned base in Rust. People love finding that and starting a faction, resetting too quickly means theres none of that for new players
    • I'd be willing to have 10 person factions, the concern I was trying to address last time by making the number smaller is there not being only 2 full factions, which means no variety and you basically lose if you're not in one of those 2.  This as well leads to no competition if one of those 2 loses = 1 raid game over, you win.
My above reply addresses defending factions from big bad losers and evening the field
    • I had intended to do events originally in the past, but among the constant issues and a lack of time/energy it didn't end up happening.  If people would show up and I have the time to do it, I can try to do some events.  But keep in mind I'm only one person, so I'm limited to what I can do.
    • I would like to have an actual F Top if I can find a decent plugin.
    Keep looking Gilligan!
    • I'm ok with p5 or p6 if everyone else is (could be shop, vote crates, event rewards).
re-add the factions board so we can do the poll
    • You helped me setup the economy smh, but yeah it's needs changing with a clear idea what it's meant to be based around.
    I sorry... I fix
    • Already have a grace period for new joins thing I could turn on.  I was thing about a few day server-wide grace to start as well.
make a board I'll do the polling. Ill even ask if people want the dynamap with or without playerssponsored by Rasmussen
    • Yeah agreed, people definitely abused the 100% drop rate.
Dont say people. It was your own faction, I was in it!!! every single time we moved a spawner we used :tnt: without exception (thats how we bought 4 stacks of c eggs)
    • Spawners don't stack.
just checking, you have a habit of REMOVING things without being asked like ELITEMOBS
    • Idk about EliteMobs, seems more annoying than anything.  Headshot sounds I can add.
Elite Mobs is great for both kinds of players since they spawn from spawners and in the overworld meaning you get Salvage books, levels, cool stuff, incentives and yadda yadda. Add diamond armor zombies if its 'annoying' then you have a reason to kill it.
    • I can turn on health bars in combat tag.
turn em on charly ill really make a poll for this if you need me but turn on the f board
    • I'm cool with head drops/head bounties.
Most badbrad01 heads at the end of the season gets redacted this is no good :o A kiss from his mommy for playing with him[/s]
    • I'd rather not.
    good answer
    • Steveco was abused af, maybe an alternative that costs some money.
maybe just slap it in because its a plugin you already own without any foresight of the repercussions? Oh wait this is Evan not Towelie nevermind then. speaking of which can we get a kowalski analysis on what tf happened to the anticheat. It was autobanning people day 1 and then never again, so I assume got rid of it?
    • I'm p sure in Auction House you can set it to return directly to inventory only.  I think a reading plugin would work better for this purpose, if I can find one.
just put market mail back in without as much as looking at the config. Come on, you've done it before. At least SFT Factions leadership has
    • Slimefun was a disaster with p10, and almost everything in it is overpowered lol.
Well, now you've done it. You've killed the playerbase from survival. typical... [/list]

My faction (magnanimous) will ally and defend any faction who comes from survival if you're newer to the game. Unless you already know big parts of the gamemode like pvp and amassing riches we can give you advice

so that you're not average height 5'6 midget

If your base is getting torn down, who ya gonna call?

Defending your faction includes: PVP and blowing up enemy cannons

base design advice (do some basic prot. if you're enemied to anyone big and phat (phat- noun meaning wealthy and fly))

    make u a sky wall

give advice to make u unworser  :D    :diamondsword:  :diamondblock:

Any chance you can scrap this release? I got a life I got to live...

    jk.

    sorta

I know exactly whats gonna happen, it happens this way every time.

I tell myself, "yeah! this is gonna be fun, play factions grind for gear woohoo!" but then 75% of my life goes by playing factions for a month, and I say "hmm, maybe I shouldnt be playing so much," another 100 hours in the game and I have the balls to quit. Except, no i dont. Because im fucking addicted. AND I CANT QUIT.

100 more hours go by. Someone C-eggs my base through the water wall because for *SOME* reason it still blows up stone bricks. It is at this moment I am seen below:

3 ) Ask Obama if he can say a few words, regarding the state of factions and the effort youre putting in to make it a more equitable place for our children

4 ) The combat tag plugin has a poopy healthbar, i thought we knew this. The BEST (undisputedly the best) plugin was the 5 Bars that would change color from Green to Red based on HP and show health percentage underneath. I have no facts to back this statement up, but Alex Jones was right: ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9txZpF3D3C4 )

5 ) I'm gonna wear a Donald Trump skin all reset

    6 ) Add vampires

7 ) You should add a custom enchant-maker plugin and add a couple as dono shop items (Jasper Fritz dropped a Book with Enchantment PeeNPoo 5 for all online players!) I say add a couple because more than that makes the server not-minecraft

8 ) SteveCO repair could be substituted for /fix; /fix may be able to be configured to cost an amount of money for each use (im thinking 100k, assuming same economy as last time)

9 ) the economy was GOOD last season, but only because I brought the Goods to the party. This time, no selling minecarts and horse armor in the shop  :-\

10 ) a boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga boinga

11 ) ceremonial rooster and sphere torture statue

11 ) Joe Mixon gets his  cider from dixon

12 ) if you dont get the reference above you think football is played with your feet

    13 )

14 ) gather community feedback on proposals

    6) Balls

    Last but not least...

ELITE MOBS IS ONLY ANNOYING IF YOU ARE A NOOB

I dont know how much more serious I can get
