Hey Survival players!

I am trying something new and allowing you all to have a voice in evaluating our staff team! Many players have expressed concern that there are issues we are not dealing with or responding to, and this is just one of the ways we're creating to give you a chance to offer input. This time through, it's Mods who are being evaluated. The same rules apply as before:

Please evaluate the Mods based only on their staffing ability. This means not giving someone a higher rating simply because you like them as a person or are friends with them, and likewise, a lower rating because you dislike them since they caught you X-Raying once or breaking the rules. Try to keep both favorable and unfavorable bias out of your evaluation. If anyone is obviously biased or abuses these evaluations, their entire response will be removed!

The four categories you will be evaluating them on are Activity, Involvement, Professionalism, and Friendliness, on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best. Any other comments you have can be put in the comment boxes.

Activity - How active they are ingame, on forums
Involvement - How involved they are, how much effort they put in and work they do, how much work beyond Mod duties they do
Professionalism - How professional they are when doing staffwork and interacting with players, how well the represent the SFT staff team
Friendliness - How friendly they are to players and other staff, how well they get along with others

Additionally, there is room to voice your comments and concerns about the Mod team as a whole. These comments will be broad and general, but they can still help us improve! These will close on Friday August 26 so please get your evaluations in before then.

Thanks guys!

Bump, a few more days of these. Now's your chance to provide any feedback to improve the Manager+ team!

Hey SFT!

This is in response to concerns that staff are not quickly if ever replying to complaints or problems brought to them. The following is a form for you to request specific help. It allows you to select the rank needed to do a task (please choose the lowest applicable rank- ie. you need help to WorldEdit a glitched area, ask for a Manager not an Admin or Owner) and provides space for you to explain the issue.

The goal of this is to help requests to be more organized and delivered to the entire team instead of a single person. This should allow Manager+ specific requests to be solved more quickly and efficiently, and reduce the possibility of someone forgetting to do a task. This doesn't eliminate the option of asking a specific Manager+ to help or catching one in-game, which you are still free to do, but offers an alternative if you need one.

One of two situations should happen within 72 hours- the problem will be solved, or you will be contacted with further information.

This can also be used to report private issues or voice complaints, however please do not list them off in the form, it will create a mess in our database. Please only say "I would like to express some concerns" or "I would like to report someone" and provide your Skype or means of contact in the "Other details" section. Please follow these guidelines so we can best assist you!

Thanks!

This form will be located in Official Support under Survival Server: Official Support- Survival Server

I'm actually really disappointed that I need to say this, but these evaluations are NOT here for you to positively bash staff members you do not like. It's quite clear whose feedback is constructive and whose is simply lashing out, and if this continues to be a problem, these opportunities for players to provide feedback will disappear. I'll be removing the particular people who it's abundantly clear that their evaluations are not fair.

It's also quite interesting how those who call staff out for being biased are equally as biased!

What if you don't some of them very well?
Or not really sure on a category?
It has flaws but I'll try ;P
And define "professionalism" that can be seen in different ways too

I'll just shut up and fill it out now
You aren't required to answer any of the questions so you can skip them if you don't know them. Categories are explained above in the original post.

Hey Survival players!

I am going to try something new and ask you, the Survival players, to evaluate our current Manager+ team by filling out this evaluation. This is very important because it gives us much-needed feedback from an outside perspective. Survival staff, please do not fill these out!

Please evaluate the Managers based only on their staffing ability. This means not giving someone a higher rating simply because you like them as a person or are friends with them, and likewise, a lower rating because you dislike them since they caught you X-Raying once or breaking the rules. Try to keep both favorable and unfavorable bias out of your evaluation.

The four categories you will be evaluating them on are Activity, Involvement, Professionalism, and Friendliness, on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best. Any other comments you have can be put in the comment boxes.

Activity - How active they are ingame, on forums, in Skype chats
Involvement - How involved they are, how much effort they put in and work they do, how much work beyond Manager duties they do
Professionalism - How professional they are when doing staffwork and interacting with players, how well the represent the SFT staff team
Friendliness - How friendly they are to players and other staff, how well they get along with others

Additionally, there is room to voice your comments and concerns about the Manager team as a whole, as well as the Admin team and the HoS team. These will close on Friday August 12 so please get your evaluations in before then. Thanks guys!

Quote from: Sparkle_Sun on Aug 01, 2016, 03:16 AMI think SFT is going in the direction it needs to. People complain that Survival is boring and needs to be spiced up, so we add plugins. And then it's too many plugins. It's impossible to please everyone. But one thing seems clear, SFT is primarily a Minecraft community and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. What Towelie's been saying is right; there aren't many games like Minecraft with such customization and server potential. The ones that are out there- Ark, Rust, LiF- aren't getting many players since our community as a whole attracts Minecrafters, because that's what we do.

Personally I'd love to get back to the actual survival aspect with a Vanilla server that's maintained well. I think it'd be a nice change after having everything you could possibly want at your fingertips on Survival. Especially for me, I have zero challenge in Survival anymore. :P

I think SFT should focus on the thriving servers it has and its cut losses on what's not working. And we've done that in a sense. We're doing the best with what we've got, and that's all you can do.

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you, if it wasn't for Rust I would probably not be writing this right now. There is nothing attracting me to stay with a gaming community that focuses solely on Minecraft any longer.

This community has attracted a large player base because of Minecraft. I've been here since the beginning -2 months. I've played minecraft. It has nothing to do with the mods, it has everything to do with the fact that I have done everything and the mods either only make that easier or do not add any real content for me to return playing Minecraft.

Minecraft will die eventually. There will always be stragglers but if we only focus on Minecraft the community will die with it. Are you going to say cut our losses then? This game has been out for over 5 years now(first release was Classic on May 17, 2009). That is a long timespan for any game. Player base is going to drop. Nothing we can do.

Building up player bases in the other servers is not going to be an overnight success like it was with Minecraft. Even Minecraft was not overnight. We started with 20 slots and it slowly increases at first and then it skyrocketed at the height of Minecraft mania. In Rust I have plastered the SFT website everywhere and we are getting a lot of EU players but 0 US players due to the high ping. It is going to take it longer to build up a player base but we are. It takes time sometimes and is not always an overnight success.

The age of the player has shifted too. It used to be more adults and teens and now it is more kids like my son who is 10. What servers does he play? He plays on minigame servers or creative servers that appeal to him or his favorite YouTuber plays on(DanTDM is his favorite). We don't have that "Wow" factor anymore or the popularity of the game behind us to keep the player base high like we did before. This is due to the popularity of the game declining.

As for a vanilla server that is well maintained I will say it again. We have had them. I maintained two of them. One of those times we fought the ender dragon with the entire 5 player base on which was fun. They are popular for about 2 weeks and then people quit them. They stop joining back to it because of the survival aspect of it. It happens every. Single. Time.

If we simply "cut our losses" and we focus solely on the popularity of Minecraft then we will die as a community when the game finally dies. I understand they are adding new things to it but it is still not that "wow" factor it had in the past at the height of it's popularity.

Everything you're saying I actually fully agree with. I wasn't thinking about non-Minecraft games when I said "cut our losses" I was thinking of the Minecraft servers that have a low/non-existant player base. We will have zero room to expand if we keep funding things that don't work.

I do think we need to expand and grow, but our player-base isn't interested in non-Minecraft games because they're made for different audiences. I think it's awesome that we have these new servers, especially with someone like you involved who is interested in growing them. You are right in saying that we need to build up a playerbase for these, it just won't consist of many people here but rather newcomers who join SFT for these new games.

General Announcements / Re: Regarding nudes
Jul 26, 2016, 12:53 PM
Quote from: ochoaj on Jul 26, 2016, 08:25 AM@Fractalion And think about it, a parent thought that people on SFT were sending nudes to each other, that parent would do anything it takes to report our server and try to get it shut down for exactly that reason.
Bingo.
I've handled these cases more times than I wish I'd had to. These people met on SFT and stay in contact on SFT and are active on the SFT community. Who do you think is getting the blame when person A spreads person B's nudes around to other people they met on SFT and are active in the SFT community. None of these situations had people using /msg or forum PMs to spread nudes. But SFT is the base ground, just like school's are for cyberbullying, or when I respond to player arguments that happen in Skype.

SFT's community is more than just forums and ingame. If it affects our community then it's our business.

Quote from: onionboyzz on Jul 26, 2016, 08:03 AMNot sure if this is still a rule but is it still true that only English is allowed in global chat?
Yep

Quote from: Vallith on Jul 26, 2016, 11:59 AMDon't take this the wrong way, I agree with everything in the post, but you also have to make sure that the staff also understand this, I've had a few staff (not naming) have a go at me because I swear, not excessively, nor at anyone, so I'd just like to make sure that the staff also understand this :)

 Thanks, Val.
That's why I included how staff should handle situations. If you see a staff member do something wrong, take a screenshot and tell a Manager+ so they can sort it.

Hey SFT,

This is long overdue, but here is a clarification of what is not allowed in chat and certain behaviors. I am showing you both the player side of these rules, and the staff side (how staff will be directed to handle these instances) so everyone can see how things work. This has been posted in the general SuperFunTime rules as well, found here: General Rules and Guidelines for SuperFunTime Survival

If anyone disagrees or has a comment about something specific, please respond with constructive criticism. Any negativity for the sake of negativity will not be allowed. Please note that these guidelines were put in front of the Manager+ team and were critiqued and changed per group decision.

Swearing:
For players: The occasional few words are okay as long as they are not directed at anyone and aren't inappropriate, but spamming it is not, and neither is just spewing foul words into chat. Example: "oh f*ck me I died" which is fine, versus "f*cking sh*t son of a b*tch" which is over the top.

For staff: If someone is spamming, saying crude things, or swearing at someone, you should step in and give them a verbal warning or a kick if necessary. If it continues, issue a ban.

Vulgar language:
For players: No comments targeting race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identities, suicide, self-harm, religion, political groups or cultures, or sexual innuendos.

For staff: If someone makes a mal-intentioned comment, warn them and explain that it's not allowed. If spamming or it continues, issue a ban.

Trolling:
For players: You can mess around and pull pranks as long as you don't break any server rules and if the player(s) affected or staff tell you to stop, you need to stop. Tread lightly here; just because you intend to replace blocks you broke on your friend's house doesn't mean they don't see it as you griefing them, and then it's not a prank anymore.

For staff: If both sides are okay with what's happening, they're not getting hurt, and no rules are being broken (some rules may be bypassed because of the consent by the other player) trolling is fine. If not, you may intervene and handle the situation accordingly.

Arguing with staff:
For players: If you feel personally offended by staff, take it up with them in a private PM. Staff should do the same beyond the initial warning "Hey [soandso] please stop!"

For staff: If someone violates the rules or their behavior has justified you giving them a warning, the first one may be publically in chat like seen above, but do not continue any further discussion in global chat.

Jokes:
For players: No jokes targeting race, religion, political groups, cultures, dirty jokes, or anything distasteful and mocking modern issues such as jokes about 9/11, the current political climate in the Middle East, mass shootings, etc.

For staff: Same as vulgar language. If someone makes a one-time comment, warn them and explain that it's not allowed. If spamming or it continues, issue a time-ban.

Debates:
For players: No debates on religion, politics, or any delicate subjects in global chat. Private debates are fine, but staff/SFT are not responsible for offense taken in private discussions.

For staff: If any of the above topics begin to start a debate in global/local chat, warn those involved to stop the conversation or move it to a private setting. If it does not stop, you may kick those who are carrying on.

@Sparkle_Sun @Towelie

There was an area built in the new spawn for this, but opinions are pretty divided and because I left for a bit the idea's kind of fallen apart. But I'm thinking we'll try it once or twice and see if it actually works or is at all successful, and if so, we'll go from there.

PM me if you need a spawner moved and I can do it if you're not on, or we can arrange a time to meet.
