Former New York Giants Saftey Tyler Sash Dies at 27

How very sad. New York Giants fans are feeling mighty blue today. Tyler Sash, the 27-year-old player who helped the Big Blue Wrecking Crew bring home championship gold, has died. The young man, who was considered a great teammate by some, was found dead in his Iowa home.

Tyler’s death was reported by KCCI in Iowa on Sept. 8, according to the New York Post. A family member had swung by Tyler’s place to walk his dog. The cause of death is currently unknown at the time and Tyler wasn’t known for having any health problems.

A native of Iowa, Tyler played for Oskaloosa High School as a multi sport athlete, before enrolling at the University of Iowa. Tyler played as a Safety for the Iowa Hawkeyes and was a sixth-round draft pick in 2011. While at Iowa, he had 13 career interceptions, five shy of the school record. In 2011, he decided to forgo his senior season, making himself eligible for the NFL Draft. He was picked up by the Giants played with them from 2011 to 2012. He was part of the Giants team that defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, 21-17.
