Tony Romo: Injured; Cowboys Aquire Matt Cassel
from CBS Sports

The Cowboys, who could be without Tony Romo for two months, have traded for Matt Cassel, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Cassel was traded from the Vikings to the Bills in the offseason and has been Tyrod Taylor's backup through the first two weeks of the season. He will reprise that role behind Brandon Weeden in Dallas.

A leagure source tells La Canfora that Cassel was traded to Dallas for a 2017 fifth-round pick.

Cassel joins his fifth team after previous stops in New England, Kansas City, Minnesota and Buffalo. He has started 72 games in 11 seasons and has thrown 96 touchdowns against 70 interceptions. But Cassel has also struggled with consistency and accuracy during his career, completing just 59 percent of his passes and sporting a quarterback rating of 80.1.

The good news -- other than Jones' glass-half-full outlook with Weeden -- is that even without Romo and Dez Bryant (and possibly Jason Witten), the Cowboys are somehow still the favorites in a divsion where the Redskins are currently the second-best team and the Giants and Eagles remain winless.
