Pixelmon - 1.8 status

I've been working on a sponge server to see how far they've come along ( I tend to check every month or so) and currently I think it might be possible to actually set up a 1.8 server. This would not replace the existing pixelmon server, it'd be an entirely new server with a fresh start for everyone. Currently it seems we have the following features for the 1.8 server -

Economy (Money)
Autoshops
Protections (Grief prevention)
Automesseges (Broadcasts for useful info, seems broken though)
Staff related plugins (bans/staff tools)
Homes
Warps
Auto ranking (Auto ranks you based on playtime/money)
Craft book (Gates/elavators)
Holograms (Holographic text like at /w1 spawn)
Telerequest (TPA)
Permissionsex (Permissions system)
Worldedit
Worldedit async (Faster worldediting, less lag)
Voxelsniper
Flexible login (/login so you can set passwords to your account)

These are just the plugins I've found, I've only setup a few and havent tested but 1 plugin so far.

Once I am done with the server side I will begin working on a client & the server mods. Due to the pixelmon devs breaking pixelmon on technic, you yourself will have to download the pixelmon mod and add it to our modpack manually.

And now I have a client setup to go further test the plugins... Not happy with some of the changes, permisisons is kinda wonky atm and I can't seem to get money, autorank or autobroadcaster to work

If it does work I think it will be the push we need to get back on top. A lot of the older players who quit for whatever reason will come back, and I bet a lot of new players will come as well.

The splitting of the playerbase is the risk associated with this investment. I personally think the reward is much worth the risk and won't cause much of a problem.


SFT Pixelmon is just using a turn to Double Team. We will see if its super effective.

I think that overall, this is a good idea. Sure, it'll split the playerbase, but the risk is worth it for the idea that it will likely bring back old players, and bring in a lot of new players. Hopefully dappa can fix up the plugins and we can be on our way to an alright up-to-date pixelmon server that waayy too many people want. xd

If all of the kinks get worked out, it sounds like it will be amazing. Many people have been asking when/if there will be a server update, and I think they will be quite pleased with this. Thanks so so much for all of your hard work.

No, their stuff will remain on the 1.7 server and they won't lose them

Pixelmon 1.8 isn't looking that great right now. The mods aren't fully developed but I'm still working on them.

Dpa would like to update the server, but at the moment it doesn't seem like it'll ever be feasible. That's why he was looking into two separate
servers, one for 1.7.10 and one for 1.8

I wouldn't say it'll never be feasible, just that it isn't at the moment.

An update to 1.8 pokemon go REQUIRES a full reset because IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE with existing data.

you bought the pokemon for the 1.7.10 server so if dpa made a new 1.8 server there is no reason that anything should have to be moved over to it. the only way I can see dpa going through the trouble of moving pokes is if the 1.7 server completely died and he made the 1.8 server as a replacement.

id wait until after the server is up and running to see how many people play it and if itll stick around before we look into adding new mods to it

What really bothers me about this whole thing is the fact the pix devs  are fucking it up on the technic(sorry for spelling) side of things thus giving everyone else a hard time to make modpacks with pixelmon. In my eyes I find it hard as crap to install the pixelmon mod just by myself let alone having someone else like my dad who is great with computers and even he has troubles. Heck i dont even know if i can get it to add to the modpack myself so I may not be able to join the new pixelmon server at all which really sucks as its one thing I look forward to is just having fun with everyone and catching pokemon. Now i know the 1.7 pack will still be there and i can use that its just not getting an update. I really really hope that you can get the pixelmon mod to work with the modpack soon or i may have troubles getting in >,< Once again thanks dap and well good luck.
