I made an account on the Minetest forums and everything and i've put in the server address but it keeps telling me "no such host is known". What am i supposed to put for the port?

After playing for just a few minutes, i think this is great. Its a little weird to get used to, but tbh i like it better than minecraft already. The only bug ive found so far is that the lighting can be a little wonky in some areas. I.e: There's this big dark area for no reason. Otherwise this is really cool.

I mean.. It's not awful. Its obviously gonna be a while till it's buffed out, but so far its not the worst. It feels like it runs at low frames (Can't check, dunno if they have a FPS counter but mine only works with full screen games) other players seem to lag around a bit, and there seems to be a good bit of desync. But all that's expected. Seems like it has potential.

You can press F5 to view fps, As in for the main game we are looking for more mods to add in for the server and currently found quiet a few good ones. You can always check here if you ever feel the need on adding texture packs : http://www.minetest.net/customize/#texture-packs

Checked with f5 and I got 60-65 FPS (Which is low for a game like this, I get 300-500 on minecraft) but thats obviously something out of SFT's control.

Seriously laggy/glitchy on Mac version (shift  keys just don't work) but loads of fun... Me and DiamondMan dug down for ages and came across a freaky undersea dungeon place... very cool... but glitchy as hell

It was working pretty good for me. But it can glitch a bit, but other than that its pretty fun once you get used to the controls.

Hopefully that will improve with each update. Updates seem to come several months apart

I was planning on giving it a shot, I got on and there was shit everywhere. Where I spawned, there was just shit all over the ground xD Also, there isn't a sprint which sucks, because it takes forever to get around.
