I don't know what else there really is that can be played on a potato PC. Old games are old games for a reason, they can be played on an old pc. New games are new games for a reason, they can be played on an updated pc. I understand there are players that can't necessarily play the new games, but we still have Minecraft. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, or however you'd put it, but the only way to continue SFT and grow it as a whole is to move into the future.  That being said we need to move to games that require a more up to date PC, I'm not saying PC Master Race $15,000 PC's (Cough Cough Quic) but something that can play more modern games. The hardest part of this is finding games that EVERYONE can play. We don't need to remove Minecraft from our list of offered servers and I never think we should, given that many players can't play more modern games. But for those who can, I think that's the only way to expand our playerbase. That being said I suggest games like, Rust (I know this failed the first time but continued updates have made it more worthwhile), Arma 3, DayZ, No Man's Sky (If future updates are added to support server hosting.), Rend, I know there are others and I'll continue to add to the list. Please let me know opinions so I know if I'm a somewhat smart idiot, or if I'm a lunatic and was fed these ideas by the Easter Bunny.

Quote from: Towelie on May 31, 2018, 02:34 PMYeah, I'm gonna use my veto powers and say go with the Mianite modpack. It's the most popular out of the three and that means the biggest potential playerbase.
Gotta love veto powers. And also what happens to Lost staff? Rip?

If you are okay with curses and tag locks being used on you to fully implement the Witchery Mod, leave your name here. As of currently, until World 1 is re-opened cursing players and taking their tag-locks is against the rules unless you have permission. So if you would like to use Curses and take Tag-Locks, leave your name here. And if you are not okay with curses and tag-locks being used on you, please don't use them on others. Thank you, and take my tag lock or curse me if you dare ;)

Quote from: MrToasT_ on Mar 30, 2018, 05:00 PMSo iv'e thought about the PVP problem and how it may effect the server. Unturned is a very mod-able game and it can be made into a roll play/PVE server with a few simple adjustments ( well they may not be simple but its simple enough to understand, their are plenty if servers on unturned that promote PVE or roll-play ) simple as fixing a few things and promoting the server a few times on the SFT discord and boom, you might have a successful server right their.

But Eh, these are just my thoughts and its ok if they are
not taken into account.

-Thanks.

I see where you are coming from, and Technically, a PVE Roleplay Server COULD work, Their a very tight knitted community with usually small fan bases (Few servers pull it off in the way it would be needed to be pulled off) but setting it up as a Survival (PvP/PvE) Would work quite well as is if we go down the unturned path way. And could even have donation stuff setup and much more like the other servers have.

But just like a superhero we need our own gimmick... something that not many others would do... So why not Ammo is rare, Military guns are rare, and Mod weapons.

Or of course Unturned battle royale XD (Might attract the Fortnite group in our discord!)

I think in order for an Unturned server to work for SFT it would need to be PVE. For one, a role play server only attracts a certain kind of person (Myself not included). For two, a PVP server in a game like Unturned could basically mean those with a large group overpower others and dominate the server. I think both a PixARK server and an Unturned server would be fun, but possibly with both set limits on how many to a group? I know this might drive away some crowd, not being able to dominate the server with 8 people, but it could possibly make the game more fair? Because PvP would be a problem with PixARK too, those groups who get the bigger creatures and more weapons faster could potentially stop progression of those who don't have said items yet. Just my opinion, but I think both servers would be loads of fun.

Quote from: Towelie on Mar 29, 2018, 02:35 PMDoes't look like PixArk will be happening due to the really high server requirements:
Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Server 2008, Server 2012 & 64-Bit

Quad Core processor (requires up to 2 full cores)

Up to 16GB memory (currently uses around 6GB memory minimum and up to 15GB of memory for a full server)

Issue 1: Needs Windows. That eliminates all the servers we have as they are all linux, and also any Windows server we may want to rent will also include a licensing fee for the Windows license...
Issue 2: Requires ~16GB RAM.

So this eliminates the option of self hosting. We could pay for a hosting service at ~0.8EUR / slot (so for a 16 slot server we'd pay $12.8 / mo, but most likely other fees will come for a dedicated ip, etc)
So, I would only do it if we have ~8-10 people that are commited to playing on the server if we do launch it. So can we get a head count of who would be interested to play and actually has the game?

I'd play

I think both games sound like a great option. Moving away from Minecraft related elements is good for SFT in my opinion, though I feel the Survival player base is larger and more active than that of the modded playerbase, simply because its easier to run. Not everyone has a computer capable of comfortably running modded servers and for that reason I think SFT should stay within a reasonable area for how graphically demanding a game is. While there are loads of fun games like Rust, Arma 3, and DayZ, not everyone has a computer capable of running the game, ultimately meaning the player base will be small. Unturned is a very fun game, though I agree with earlier posts about SFT and PvP not mixing. But Pixark I feel is a good game for SFT to push out too from Minecraft. For the reasons that it is pixelated, and there are loads of things to do besides kill other players. Even though it costs $20, so does Minecraft and we all play that. So there's the reason I voted for Pixark. :D
