Another update: Basically, All of the Bukkit Staff/Developers have resigned from their positions and or quit the project completely. This puts the icing on the cake, that Bukkit will not continue for the foreseeable future. At this point it's up to Mojang to come up with their own Mod API to support developers/server owners or continue the Bukkit Project which is highly unlikely due to the recent DMCA claim. Who knows what will happen next here? But there's no reason for our community to lay idle until someone/something else takes over development.

As a gaming community, like SuperFunTime, we should focus/move our attention towards other game servers. It's about time we realize Mojang doesn't care to support their community and it's really not worth our time and effort to keep those servers running anymore. It's not like everything we have here is going to shambles, all of the valued resources collected over the years to power Minecraft servers can be used elsewhere. This community was primarily built around Minecraft but now more than ever it's time for a change in a new direction.

Source: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/an-independent-goodbye.310086/

EDIT: Just found out, there's still a new API under works to replace Bukkit/Spigot which can be found here.

Bukkits dead, spigot threw in the towel and gave up and Cauldron production was halted indefinitely it seems. Theres pretty much zero hope for bukkit to progress any further than 1.7.10 unless Mojang makes the server open source (which wont happen) or if all of wolves code is removed from bukkit, which would also kill bukkit. I heard that would send bukkit back to roughly 1.2 MC

Pretty much right now theres not much hope for this to get any better, as far as I can tell plugin authors are looking to moving over to Forge so plugins will become Mods -- which isnt really good at all short term, but giving time to adjust we could do fine, assuming we last long enough.
Just to further update on this situation, the COO (Chief Operating Officer) at Mojang posted on the Bukkit Forums:

I'm glad Unturned is becoming popular, some staff/rules would be nice on it.

Anyways, i'll try to remember to vote daily.
Problem is there are no commands/plugins to it.
Actually there are plugins/commands for Unturned out there. If you want I can show you how to install them via Skype or Teamviewer. Unturned is powered by Unity so most plugins are coded in C# or Javascript.

I think the cars and everything despawns. When I logged back in last night my cars were gone, which could be someone found them and took them but the base had all of its doors, blocked windows, etc gone.

Still fun though :D
When the server restarts is when all the loot, and cars respawn   Even if the car is parked away it will still respawn elsewhere
This is partially true, except the part about if the car is parked away. If you are losing vehicles that aren't destroyed someone either stole it or it was parked on a hill and it slid into the ocean. The only way a vehicle will respawn on restart if it's completely destroyed cars. Cars that smoke, flip over, or have no damage will not.

Theres no way you could reach your salary on donations. What do you earn/month?
I'm tempted to do this, just to see if you actually quit your job or not.
I will though not after the first month. I'd wait a few months (3 tops) to see if this is an one time thing or a forever thing.
I could probably support you full $450/your salary for ~2-3 months if I do this. I'm probably better off doing the $50, $100, $250 pledge though. Anyways, good luck and maybe you'll actually get to quit your job.
You'll just do it for 3 months so i quit my job then stop xD

That's why I'm waiting to see if someone else will do this, so i'm not the only one supporting you  8). If dpa had one I would support him as well.
I thought you disliked me, why support me o_O
If I disliked you, why would I stick around here? I may dislike the way you run some things here but not you.

I don't know if we ever had Hunger Games before, but I've seen a lot of guests join asking for this. I started to build one a while ago but was too busy.
I use to love games like this, and UHC is a great example of how successful survival/fighting mini games can be. I think it would be cool to do this, but I think it would require plugins. If the devs don't have to much on their plate as of now.
I remember ColesyM was working on a custom Hunger Games plugin and we were going to have a dedicated server for it but I'm not sure what happened to that.

Have you tried or made any of the suggested minigames in this topic? or what about the feedback given here?

Maybe before looking for more things you can do to "spruce up survival" you should take into consideration most of the suggestions that were already given to you in previous topics. For whatever reason these topics seem to get buried in the graveyard or left open without anything getting done.

Where can I find the game?
1. You can find the game on Steam, for 23EUR (or about $30)
2. If you are willing to take a small risk or two, you can get the game much cheaper on Kinguin.net
Link: http://www.kinguin.net/category/3792/7-days-to-die-steam-gift/
Be careful at the user's ratings, I have personally purchased games from here before and hadn't had a problem but don't deal with users that have a poor rating and also, Steam might not like it if you do this often (buy games from other sites)
3. You can buy 7DaysToDie from the makers directly for $25. Link: https://7daystodie.com/buy/

If all else fails someone here may have an extra copy or money so you can get the game. Or you can just wait for the price of the game to go down on steam during one of their sales during the week.

You cannot connect with the dns but if you use the ip you'll be able to connect.
updated front page to contain the ip instead of dns.
Even though the server is not very popular atm its not very expensive and i believe we can get it to slow ly be popular, our old one had more players

Day 1: 3 people on
Day 2: No One on
Day 3: We'll see tonight.

If people are going to argue for a reason to have the server, then play on the server please.
I'm sorry not everyone who has/owns a copy of 7d2d plays on the server in your respective timezone. I try to play whenever i'm available or have enough free time to do so. I can't be on 24/7 to see you on and be counted in your "people" who play on the server per day. I have never seen you on the server once, does that mean you don't play the server at all? No, it means we play at different times and we don't always see each other. So before you go and say "If people are going to argue for a reason to have the server, then play on the server please." Get an accurate count of players who do play on the server each day instead of guessing based off when you are on.

I'm sorry you have a hatred for me that every time I make a post with a generalized statement directed at no one that you feel the need to respond with some response that is supposed to invoke some super amazing new thoughts that I have never thought of before.

Of course I know that everyone lives and plays in different timezones, but if I see people I know are in the same time zones arguing for having the server then I at least expect to run into them at some time. Which is why I said "Day 3: We'll see tonight". What you failed to read into my generalized statement was that when people don't log into the server, that server dies. I have seen it time and time again and so have you. Dayz(4-5 times now) and Rust to name a few recently. I'm not sorry for wanting a longevity to our new servers and making a generalized statement.

Next time you feel the need to read more into my generalized statement maybe you can send me a PM first so we can discuss it instead of trying to berate me in the forums.
I apologize for what I said coming off as criticizing or hating you because I don't. I think you are pretty chill guy, respectable, and you always seem to have the best interest at heart for this community. I never said you had to be sorry for "making a generalized statement or wanting a longevity to our new servers", I want that too. In fact I'm sure most of this community would be happy if we had a variety of servers (not just Minecraft) populated more.

We are basically on the same page here except I believe the server has more or less players on throughout the day than you are depicting from your "generalized statements". But anyways, I see where you are coming from and I don't wish to prolong this anymore than I have to. I think I got my point across here and if you wish to further discuss this you may do it via forum pm. Have a great day and I hope to see you on the server soon.

How long do you think this will be around for (only ask as you're offering 12 month subscriptions)?
It's probably going to be mostly filled with staff since they play for free while the rest of us have to pay.

Yes, i was gonna try that but before i did i tried namalsk and nothing... plus i was told to stop so i did...
From what I know, Towelie is planning to shutdown the DayZ server if it doesn't pay for itself or if someone doesn't pay for the monthly fee to run it.

This is all due to the recent Minecraft EULA update, more info here and over here too. He's basically being forced to cut off "other expenses" like DayZ hosting because the money is being focused towards Survival/Pixelmon.

Those servers pay for themselves and seem to be most popular in this community. In order to keep the DayZ alive in this community we need to get donations, switch to another mod like overpoch, increase our popularity through advertising, and if all else fails we need someone whose willing to pay for the monthly fee to run the server.

you could make an overpoch server, it seems to be quite popular at the moment.

Yeah but some of the structures which it's showing aren't there either Oo
This is the most accurate map you will get for dayz: http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarus This will help you more if you are looking for places to go since it gives you coordinates at the bottom which you can use with a GPS or map. As for loot and vehicle spawns it won't be the same since DayZ Epoch spawns are different from the DayZ mod.

At the moment there's nothing really keeping me on the server since it doesn't have anything new that sets it apart from every other DayZ Epoch server and or it rollbacks/glitches out randomly. I'll play again once it's more populated with players, stable to play, and there's actually something to do. Not trying to shun the hard work and dedication put into making the server fun but I just don't see any reason for me to continue playing. Anyways, thank you rally and towelie for keeping the server alive and maybe I will return later.
That's how the game is and there's nothing we can do about it. It's a mod of a mod.
The only glitch caused by me was already fixed (the vehicles issue).
The glitches and rollbacks don't bother me as much as everything else I mentioned. It's more of the lack of players and things to do that deters me from playing. The game itself is fun but with almost no one to play with but AI it gets boring extremely fast. Maybe advertising or donations will help but right now it's just seems like it's at a standstill as far as gaining popularity goes.

To the admins / mods if you get a little time have a look at devistation . Com from what your saying this looks like what your slowly working towards on your server.
1. can you not post links randomly
2. what the hell does that link have anything to do with the server. what.
I think he's referring to devistationinc which has a few custom Epoch map scripts. It doesn't specify if these will work with the current version of epoch though so it will have to be tested first.

Yeah, i'll be on, and joshholymoses said he will too, and i know badbrad will... so yeah definally not alone... but be warned... WICKED AI, is not to be mess around with xP they are well known for being THE best ai system ;)

A player has discovered that apparently one of our ai scripts have been stealing locked cars!...

I'm fixing this RIGHT NOW *FIXED*

So this explains what happened to my two locked vehicles (an SUV camo and HMMWV).

Yesterday, I decided to hide both vehicles in a forest (temporarily). When I was hanging around there, a group of AI came out of nowhere and started firing at me. I fled away since I was unarmed and didn't want to die. Going far enough away that I lost them quickly and decided to play it safe and log off.

A few hours later, I went back on and navigated to where I left the locked vehicles and to my surprise they were missing. I spent a while searching around the area throughly. Eventually, I just assumed it was stolen or was a rollback and moved on with my day. I'm glad to see it's fixed but next time I will make sure to hide my locked vehicles properly so this doesn't happen again.
