Back from the vet!

I am back from the vet with Stafida!
Turns out it wasn't a tumor, but it's a series of growths. What happens is, due to old age, the places where feathers normally grow can get messed up and instead a mass of hard, living tissue emerges. The doctor removed about 3 of those growths and sent them to a histopath lab. He also gave me a treatment plan for 40 days, and after that I will go with him back to the vet to see how the growths are progressing and if there is a way to slow them down.

The doctor thinks (but isn't sure until the histopath results are back) that these are not a risk to his life, rather just an inconvenience and he thinks as long as i come every ~3 months when he normally would grow new feathers to remove those growths, he should be fine (removing the growths doesn't mean surgery or anesthesia, they come up rather easily but I need to go to vet as there is a small risk of bloodloss).
This also means some of his feathers won't grow back so that may pose a problem as well.

I was told to replace his food with something else (bio seeds, bit more pricey but worth it for my guy), and STOP PUTTING ANY VITAMINS IN HIS WATER OR FOOD! Yeah.. that's apparently a bad thing. Vitamins should only be given by the vet and they are usually placed in water once every 4 days, for 10 times and then no more for a year.

They said he may live up to 25 years, so the old guy has got a bit of a kick left in him.
I took advantage of the vet visit to also clip his nails (which were so big, they were preventing him from properly going about)

He did not appreciate the vet visit one bit, in fact he was a bit in shock (and still is) from being handled and being taken on a ~1h car ride to the vet.
PS: Turns out the reason he can't fly as much as he could before is because he's missing some feathers due to this thing, they are not visible but they make flying harder.
